Queens of the Stone Age cancel tour dates for Josh Homme's emergency surgery

Queen of the Stone Age is canceling tour dates so lead performer Josh Homme can have emergency surgery.
The rock band posted a statement on X, formerly Twitter, sharing, "QOTSA regret to announce that Josh Homme must return to the United States immediately for emergency surgery. Every effort was made to push through and play for you, but it is no longer an option to continue."
The band is canceling eight scheduled performances for Homme’s surgery.

People who purchased tickets for the shows will be contacted about possible refunds.
"Queens are gutted we aren't able to play for you. We apologize for any inconvenience and share in your frustration and disappointment," the band wrote on X.
USA Today reported that the band did not share specifics on Homme's surgery. Last year, Homme shared that he was diagnosed with cancer and recovered successfully but did not say the type of cancer.
Queens of the Stone Age is scheduled to play several festivals and headline shows in August, according to the band’s website.
