Man arrested in crash that kills 2 men in Phoenix

A man has been arrested for a crash that left two cousins dead. 

The crash happened on Dec. 15 when 28-year-old Francisco Heredia-Mendivil allegedly oversteered his Chevy Camaro while trying to pass a slower driver and veered into oncoming traffic.

Heredia-Mendivil's car crashed head on into a Volkswagen Jetta, operated by 35-year-old Erick Segura. Segura and his cousin, 37-year-old Alonso Franco who was in the back seat, were pronounced dead at the crash scene. 

Another 16-year-old passenger was injured and taken to the hospital with a broken arm.

A family is heartbroken after two cousins were pronounced dead in a head-on crash in Phoenix.

Heredia-Mendivil was taken to the hospital with injuries and was booked into Maricopa County jail upon his release. 

The crash is still under investigation.
