2 dead, 2 hurt in west Phoenix head-on crash

Two men were killed, and two other people were hurt in a crash near 73rd Avenue and Indian School Road.

The two cousins were inseparable, often mistaken for brothers

"They were two peas in a pod," said Monique.

Their bond ran deep, sharing a love of Jeeps and off-roading, but what came first was their kids.

"His kids mean the world to him," said Jorge.

Franco had a big Christmas surprise planned, but that has been canceled.

His family is now left with more questions than answers.

"For Christmas he told the kids and my sister he had a surprise for them… and now we won’t know what that is," Monique said.

The kids are now without their fathers.

Jorge Hernandez, their uncle knows it’s his responsibility to step up.

"It’s some big shoes to fill, but it's something I have to do. He would do it for me so I'm definitely going to do it for him," said Jorge.

The driver who swerved into the wrong lane has had multiple surgeries but is expected to make a full recovery.

We have reached out to Phoenix police about pending charges. They say this is an ongoing investigation.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help both of the families Alonso Franco and Erick Segura.
