2 dead, 2 hurt in west Phoenix head-on crash
PHOENIX - Two men were killed, and two other people were hurt in a crash in west Phoenix early Sunday morning.
The crash happened just before 2 a.m. on Dec. 15 near 73rd Avenue and Indian School Road.
Phoenix Police say officers got to the scene and found two vehicles involved in the crash and four people hurt.
Alonso Franco, 37, and 35-year-old Erick Segura, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say a 28-year-old man was driving a Chevrolet Camaro eastbound on Indian School Road when he tried changing lanes to pass another vehicle.
"The Camaro oversteered and crossed over into the westbound lanes where he collided head on with Unit 2 in the number 1 lane," police said.
The 28-year-old driver of the Camaro suffered serious injuries and is recovering in the hospital following surgery.
Segura was driving the second vehicle involved in the crash, a Volkswagen Jetta. Franco was in the back passenger seat. A 16-year-old boy who was riding in the front passenger seat suffered a broken arm and was hospitalized.
