Man shot and killed by his son in Glendale, police say
GLENDALE, Ariz. - A man was reportedly shot and killed by his son in Glendale on Sunday morning.
On Dec. 22, officers responded to the area of 59th Avenue and Greenway Road around 9:30 a.m.
"It was learned a victim was injured from a gunshot wound by someone also living in the same household," Glendale Police said.
The victim was pronounced dead. The police department says the suspect in this case is the victim's son.
No names have been released in this case by police, but loved ones say the victim's name is Clinton.
Police haven't given any details about what possibly led up to the shooting.
‘He helped with everything’
This is one of several deadly domestic violence attacks in the Valley recently.
The deadly shooting happened at the Sagewood Apartment complex where neighbors have gotten close over the years.
A couple of residents said they didn't just lose a neighbor, but a beloved friend.
"A lot of us, we get together, we say ‘good morning,’ you know, it's family," said a neighbor named Robert Poladian.
He, along with members of the community, are mourning the loss of a man named Clinton.
"Clinton, he was exceptional. He always talked about the lord and always wished blessings for everybody," Patsy Berg, a neighbor, said.
This shooting happened on the same weekend that Peoria Police reported another domestic violence shooting that left a man dead.
This violence is happening just a week after a grandmother allegedly shot and killed her granddaughter in Buckeye.
"It's the guns. You know, during the holidays, people go through stuff," Poladian said. "They got to seek help."
Clinton's death, Poladian says, is a loss to the entire complex.
"He helped with everything. Pushing the chair for us one time up a ramp because he was a big muscular guy. Very handsome, very people-oriented," Berg said.
Poladian says Clinton lived in the complex for 13 years and enjoyed having him as a neighbor.
"We've known each other about six, seven years. He was a clean guy, always picked up garbage after anybody who threw it on the floor," Poladian said.
The apartment complex gathered for a Christmas event on Friday night.
"He was part of it," Poladian said. "He dropped off his gifts to the secret Santa person."
Berg adds, "There was no rhyme or reason. He just brought the gifts early. We weren't supposed to exchange gifts until Christmas Eve."
Clinton's neighbors are left praying over his death days before the holiday.
"It hurts, you know. I see him always walking, always ‘God bless you,’ ‘Merry Christmas.’ We had a thing going on Friday night like I said, but yeah, he's going to be missed by everybody," Poladian said.
