Instagram rolled out a new feature on its social media platform.  Users can now select a song to play on their profiles, similar to a feature Myspace used years ago.

But what makes the Instagram music feature different from Myspace is a song will not automatically play and viewers of a profile can choose to play or stop the song, USA Today reported.

"We’re excited to announce that you can now add a song to your profile, giving you more ways to express yourself through music on Instagram! Swipe through to learn more," Instagram wrote in a post last week.

Instagram collaborated with singer Sabrina Carpenter to launch the feature, which debuted on Aug. 22. Carpenter used the feature to share a new single, "Taste," last week to promote her album "Short n’ Sweet," which was released on Aug. 23.

How do I use the new Instagram music feature?

Instagram users can add a song by going to the "edit profile" tab and selecting it.

Once this step is completed, users can scroll down and select the "music" option and you search for and choose an artist song from Instagram’s catalog of licensed music and you can choose a 30-second-long part of the song to add.

Click "done" and the song will then pop up on your Instagram profile. But if you want to change or remove a song, all you have to do is return to "edit profile" or tap on the song on your profile.

A menu will appear offering you the option to remove the song or change it to another track.
