Teenage suspect arrested following trooper-involved shooting in Phoenix
PHOENIX (FOX 10) - Authorities say no one is injured following a trooper-involved shooting in Phoenix.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the shooting happened near 41st Avenue and Maryland at around 12:14 a.m. Wednesday, when a trooper was trying to stop a Mercury-brand car near Bethany Home Road and 31st Avenue for driving without the headlights on. The suspect failed to yield, and continue to 41st Avenue and Maryland, where he stopped his car and immediately pulled out a handgun, firing at the troopers. One of the troopers then returned fire with a rifle, and the suspect fled his car and ran toward 43rd Avenue.
The suspect was then taken into custody, according to officials. The suspect, identified as a 14-year-old, has been booked into the Durango Juvenile Facility and accused of first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and weapons misconduct.
DPS says no one was injured in the shooting.
