Source: Phoenix Police investigating new allegation of assault at Hacienda HealthCare
PHOENIX (FOX 10) -- An official with the City of Phoenix has confirmed to FOX 10 that Phoenix Police are investigating new allegations of an assault inside Hacienda HealthCare.
The facility has been the focus on international media attention, since a child was born to a woman in vegetative state at the facility late December. The woman has been identified as a 29-year-old enrolled member of the San Carlos Apache tribe, and the incident is being investigated by Phoenix Police as a sexual assault.
According to sources, a patient recently told a social worker that two staff members struck her in the face and arms multiple times over the past few months. The social worker then brought the allegations to police.
According to the source, there are no signs of injury at this point, but FOX 10 has confirmed that an active investigation is ongoing.
On Friday, officials with Hacienda HealthCare provided further details on the allegations in a statement.
