Police: Wrong-way driver arrested for extreme DUI in Phoenix

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Police say a man was arrested for extreme DUI after he drove the wrong way along a Phoenix freeway.

Phoenix police say 53-year-old Richard Stuverud was arrested early Wednesday morning after he was spotted driving southbound in the northbound HOV lanes along State Route 51 and Greenway Road.

When officers stopped Stuverud, police say he showed signs of being intoxicated and was arrested for extreme DUI.

Stuverud was booked into jail and the investigation is ongoing by police.
