PHOENIX - Interstate 10 has reopened in both directions in Phoenix after a police situation shut down the freeway for hours on the morning of Aug. 21.
The incident, which police said involved a person who refused to come down from the top of a pedestrian bridge, began just before 8 a.m. along the eastbound lanes of the freeway at 16th Street. As a result, both directions of I-10 were closed near the Mini Stack.

Police situation shuts down I-10 in Phoenix
Interstate 10 was shut down in both directions on the morning of Aug. 21 in Phoenix due to a police situation.
After several hours of negotiations, police say the person "complied and has been lowered to safety."
Police say the man will be arrested and booked into jail on multiple charges. He will also receive mental health services.
