PHOENIX - A deadly crash involving multiple vehicles on I-10 near downtown Phoenix slowed traffic Monday night.
The crash happened in the eastbound lanes of I-10 and near 16th Street. The Arizona Department of Public Safety says a flatbed tow truck sideswiped another vehicle, causing it to spin out of control. The tow truck then came to a sudden stop and was hit by a third vehicle.
The driver of the third vehicle was killed. A passenger in that car was hospitalized in critical but stable condition. The tow-truck driver suffered a head injury.

No other serious injuries were reported.
I-10 was shut down due to the investigation, but it has since reopened.
