Peoria woman gets probation for leaving toddler in a car
PHOENIX (AP) - A Peoria woman accused of leaving her toddler in a car while she slept inside her house has been sentenced to probation.
Maricopa County prosecutors say 26-year-old Chanelle Marie Fatali was sentenced Thursday to two years of supervised probation for a misdemeanor count of endangerment after reaching a plea agreement.
Fatali originally was charged with one count of child abuse.
She was accused of abandoning her then 2-year-old daughter in a parked car on the night of July 21, 2014 and going inside her home to sleep.
Police found the toddler unharmed in the unlocked car with the air conditioning running.
Officers say the girl was warm and had a dirty diaper.
Fatali told authorities she had no idea what happened and didn't remember leaving the child in the car.
