Man kidnapped woman while test driving her car in north Phoenix: police

A man accused of kidnapping a woman and stealing her vehicle in north Phoenix has been arrested.

The incident happened at around midnight on Oct. 3 near Cave Creek and Mountain View Roads.

According to court documents, the suspect met the woman at a car wash and asked to test drive her vehicle. The woman agreed but reportedly became "fearful" of the man and asked to be let out of the car.

"The victim began getting scared by the statements of [the suspect] and his odd behavior and asked several times to be let out of the vehicle," court documents read.

Woman kidnapped by man test-driving her car: PD

Phoenix Police officials say they have arrested a man in connection with an alleged kidnapping incident involving a woman who was trying to sell her car. FOX 10's Steve Nielsen reports.

Police say the man refused to let the woman out and drove her around for an hour. Eventually, the suspect dropped the woman off near where they started and then took off. The woman was able to get a ride from a stranger and use another phone to track hers, which was still in her car.

The suspect was later found by police and arrested. 

The suspect originally refused to give his name to police, but he has since been identified as 30-year-old Jiovany Acosta. He was booked into jail and is accused of multiple charges, including kidnapping.
