PHOENIX - Police in Phoenix have released new details surrounding an incident that led to the death of a man.
The incident happened just before 6 a.m. on Dec. 20 at a business near Interstate 17 and Thomas Road. When officers got to the scene, they found 62-year-old Kenneth Stanford, who was rushed to a hospital. Stanford later died as a result of his injuries.
Initial statements released by police described the injuries Stanford suffered as a gunshot wound. On Dec. 21, however, police clarified that it appears Stanford was stabbed, and not shot.

"This information will be confirmed after a post-mortem exam is completed by of [sic] the Office of the Medical Examiner," police said.
Also on Dec. 21, police released the identity of two suspects in connection with Stanford's death.
Police say the two suspects, 33-year-old Javon Lavon Parks III and 35-year-old Naketra Alexander, are accused of armed robbery and murder. Parks was arrested on Dec. 20, while Alexander was arrested a day later.
