Gilbert boy who underwent liver transplant holding blood drives to help others
GILBERT, Ariz. - He's only four years old, but Valen Krashov is already a hero.
Valen was diagnosed with acute liver failure when he was three at Phoenix Children's Hospital. He recently had a liver transplant along with several blood transfusions, which gave him a second chance at life.
Valen took swim lessons at Swimhaus in Gilbert before his diagnosis, so the owner helped his family host a blood drive - the first of many that will help so many others.
"Every day we say thank you that we got a second chance," Valen's father said. "Everybody, just keep an eye on your kids. You never know what happens overnight."
The second blood drive will be Sunday, Nov. 7 at the Made for Mama Market and Expo in WestWorld of Scottsdale, which runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
