Deadly U.S. plane crashes in 2025: Timeline
Since the beginning of 2025, at least 105 people have died in nine U.S. aviation incidents.
According to the National Transportation Safety Board, preliminary reports are expected within 30 days from the date of each accident.
The preliminary report will contain factual information gathered during the initial phase of the investigation. A probable cause of each crash and any contributing factors will come in the final reports, which are expected in 12 to 24 months from the date of the accident.

January 2:
On January 2, 2025, at about 1230 Pacific standard time, a Piper PA-32-300, N4151R, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Round Mountain, Nevada. The pilot was fatally injured.
January 2:
On January 2, 2025, about 1409 Pacific standard time, an experimental amateur-built Vans Aircraft RV10, N8757R, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Fullerton, California. The pilot and passenger were fatally injured, and there were 19 ground injuries, 8 of which were serious, and 11 minor.
January 12:
On January 12, 2025, at about 1430 Central Standard Time, a Bellanca 7GCBC, N8569V, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Batesville, Arkansas. The pilot was fatally injured.
January 14:
On January 14, 2025, at about 0622 mountain standard time, a Piper PA-24-250, N6502P, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Rock Springs, Wyoming. The pilot was fatally injured.
January 25:
On January 25, 2025, at about 1235 Eastern Standard Time, a Beech V35B, N2UZ, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Charlottesville, Virginia. The airline transport pilot was fatally injured.
January 29:
A Bombardier CRJ700 operating as American Airlines Flight 5342 collided with a Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter above the Potomac River in Washington, D.C. All 64 people on board the CRJ700 and 3 on board the helicopter were killed.

January 31:
A medical jet crash in Philadelphia killed seven people. The Learjet generated a massive fireball when it smashed into the ground in a neighborhood not long after taking off from a small airport nearby.

February 6:
A Cessna 208B Grand Caravan operating as Bering Air Flight 445 from Unalakleet to Nome, Alaska, went missing 10 minutes before its scheduled arrival at Nome. The wreckage of the aircraft was found 34 miles from Nome in the Bering Sea, and all 10 people onboard the aircraft died.

February 10:
On February 10, 2025, at about 1438 Mountain Standard Time, a Gates Learjet 35A, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Scottsdale, Arizona. The captain was fatally injured; the first officer (FO) and one passenger were seriously injured. One passenger sustained minor injuries, and an occupant inside a parked airplane sustained serious injuries.

February 14:
A missing 10-seat Cessna 208 plane crashed in a rural area of Central Florida, officials said. The pilot, the only person onboard, died in the crash. The small plane was flying from Sebastian to Palatka.

February 15:
On February 15, 2025, about 2300, a Rockwell 112, N1423J, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Covington, Georgia. The private pilot and one passenger were fatally injured.
February 19:
At least two people are dead following a midair plane collision at an airport northwest of Tucson, police said on Wednesday. The Marana Police Department says the crash happened on Feb. 19 at the Marana Regional Airport, located near Avra Valley and Sandario Roads.

February 20:
A helicopter crashed on ice at Ririe Reservoir, killing one occupant and injuring another. The deceased was Bradford Brown, CEO of ATL Technology, a Utah-based medical device company. The FAA and NTSB are investigating the cause of the crash.

February 27:
A Robinson R44 helicopter crashed west of Uvalde, Texas, around 1:20 p.m. local time on Thursday, Feb. 27. The two people who were on board died in the crash.
March 1:
On March 1, 2025, about 1215 mountain daylight time, a Vans RV7 experimental airplane, N902T, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Matheson, Colorado. The pilot sustained fatal injuries.
March 4:
03/04/2025 Ellensburg, Washington. The NTSB confirms this crash was fatal, but does not specify the information. The investigation is in progress.
March 10:
A medical transport helicopter crashed in Mississippi on March 10 with three people on board. The helicopter was not carrying patients. All three people on board were killed. The cause of the crash is unknown, and federal investigators are responding.

March 13:
The pilot of a small plane died in a crash on March 13 in Mesquite. The Mesquite Fire Department confirmed the plane crashed around 7:30 a.m. in a wooded area near Lawson and Clay Mathis roads, not far from the Mesquite Metro Airport.
