Suspect in Glendale shooting arrested in Kingman

A teenager accused of shooting and killing his father at a Glendale home has been arrested.

The shooting happened just before 4 p.m. on May 28 near 67th and Olive Avenues.

When officers got to the scene at a home, they found 39-year-old Joshua Goldman with multiple gunshot wounds. Goldman was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to court documents, Goldman's daughter told Glendale Police she was arguing with her father when her brother stepped in and shot him in the home's hallway.

The suspect then fled the home in his father's Toyota Camry. Investigators tracked the vehicle, which was heading toward Las Vegas.

Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers located the Camry at about 7 p.m. in Kingman, where they attempted to pull it over. The driver refused to stop, and a pursuit ensued.

Troopers used a grappler to stop the Camry. The 14-year-old suspect was inside the vehicle and he was taken into custody.

The teen was booked into jail and is accused of second-degree murder. He was not identified because he is a minor.

Details emerge after teen allegedly shoots, kills father

Glendale Police are providing more information on the report of a teen allegedly shooting and killing his father on May 28. FOX 10's Brian Webb has those details.

"My family is here. I have a daughter here, so it’s pretty scary that that happened right across the street from my house," a neighbor named Doug said.

Police say the father, possibly impaired, yelled at his 11-year-old daughter, demanded to check her cell phone and threw something at a wall.

That’s when her brother came to her defense, allegedly pulling a 9mm handgun from his waistband and firing two times.

"The 14-year-old was overhearing this argument, stepped into defend his sister and at one point fired multiple rounds at his father, fatally injuring his father," said Glendale Police spokesperson Jose Santiago.

Police say the father was armed too. His handgun was reportedly still in its holster on the side of his body.

It’s unclear if the father ever threatened his daughter. She says no, and her brother says yes.

"It's a good neighborhood. The cul-de-sac here is really peaceful and quiet …," Doug said.

Police say the teen shooting suspect has a history of running away from home and that both he and his father carried guns for protection after someone broke into their home in the past.

A teenager who allegedly shot and killed his father near 67th and Olive Avenues before fleeing the Valley and leading authorities on a pursuit in Kingman has been arrested.
