Hurricane Helene: Aftermath has thousands making insurance claims

Following Hurricane Helene's landfall in Florida and surrounding states, which killed more than 120 people and damaged hundreds of homes, insurance claims will be through the roof. But, home coverage in Florida can be extremely costly, and many times, insurance companies refuse to cover flooding from natural disasters like this one. Hurricane Helene kills more than 120, causes destruction

At least 120 people are confirmed dead in six states because of Hurricane Helene. Parts of North Carolina are cut off by mudslides and roads that washed away. Crews are having to airlift food, water and supplies to residents impacted by the storm. As recovery efforts get underway, President Joe Biden says victims have the full support of the federal government.

NOAA orders next generation of hurricane hunter aircraft

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced recently it awarded a contract to Georgia-based Lockheed Martin Aeronautics for two specialized C-130J Hercules aircraft. The planes are expected to join NOAA’s fleet by 2030.
