Valley veteran pleads guilty to threatening mosque

Michael Hanson, an Iraq war veteran from Goodyear, was arrested by Avondale Police last month at a west Valley Islamic center. According to court documents, Hanson made several threats towards Muslim people, including saying he would "bomb the place." Hanson pleaded guilty to communicating a terroristic threat. He will be sentenced later this month.

Buc-ee's announced a delay in the opening of its first Arizona location, now aiming for a June 2026 debut. The gas station, renowned for its extensive food options, shopping, & spotless bathrooms, was initially scheduled to open around Christmas this year.

School bus crash in Goodyear

Police and firefighters are at the scene of a crash involving a school bus near 158th Avenue and Van Buren Street. No children were on the bus at the time of the crash. Goodyear Police say a teen girl who was in another vehicle was taken to a hospital in stable condition. One other person was evaluated at the scene and released.

Motorcyclist badly hurt after crash with police car

The incident happened in the area of Estrella Parkway and Van Buren Street. In a brief statement, police say the motorcyclist was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Police did not say whether anyone inside the police department-owned vehicle was hurt.
