'Gilbert Goons': Are they a classified criminal street gang?

Following acts of teen violence in the community, parents have voiced their concerns about the so-called “Gilbert Goons." While law enforcement has yet to publicly name anyone as a member, the Gilbert Police Department is considering whether the group can be classified as a criminal street gang.

Several arrested in connection to teen's East Valley assault

Arrests have been made in connection with an assault and robbery incident in Gilbert last year. "This investigation is ongoing. This investigation is independent and separate from Queen Creek's investigation into the death of Preston Lord," Gilbert Police said.

2 juveniles, 2 adults arrested in connection to Gilbert teen violence

Christopher Fantastic's arrest came on the same night members of the Gilbert Town Council voted to establish a teen violence subcommittee. On the same night, Gilbert Police Chief Michael Soelberg announced that there are nine active investigations related to teen violence, including five incidents that were previously not reported to police.

Gilbert PD has web page dedicated to teen violence

The Gilbert Police Department now has a web page dedicated to investigating teen violence. Most recently, the department posted a photo showing a fight on Aug. 18 near Williams Field Road and Market Street. Gilbert Police did not officially link this to the so-called "Gilbert Goons" group.
