We've seen an increase in pet adoptions stemming from the pandemic, but now we need more veterinarians to care for them. At Western Maricopa Education Center public schools, students in the Valley are getting hands-on veterinary education. 5-month-old puppy caught in thorny situation can soon be adopted

According to officials with the Arizona Humane Society, the Great Pyrenees mix puppy, named 'Tumbleweed,' was found stuck in a cactus, and workers had to shave down the puppy to remove the pines and burrs. Tumbleweed, AHS officials say, is one of nearly 18,000 sick, hurt, and abused pets that they care for every year.

Phoenix veterinarian talks about the shortage of pet care providers

A nationwide vet shortage is taking a toll on pet care across the country. FOX 10's Anita Roman shows you how vet schools are playing catch up. It's a rewarding career if that's what you want to do, and Dr. Brian Serbin says the problem is not enough people are doing the job.
