Arizona man becomes stuck in tortoise hole

Daisy Mountain Fire crews had an unusual rescue on July 8. A man became stuck in a tortoise hole in the backyard of a home in the north Valley. A spokesperson says the man was clearing things out of the hole when he got stuck. Crews got him out and took him to the hospital with minor injuries. Tortoises are known to burrow into big holes to help regulate their body temperature.

Bear warning sign damaged by bears

The Arizona Game and Fish Department says black bears damaged a bear warning sign. The bears used the post the sign was hanging on to rub up against to scratch themselves. The sign was on Riggs Lake on Mount Graham, about 70 miles northeast of Tucson.
