One of the seven suspects charged in the death of East Valley teen Preston Lord appeared in court on Nov. 20. Attorneys for William Hines asked a judge to reconsider whether there was probable cause behind the 18-year-old's murder and kidnapping charges. The lawyers argued the evidence presented to the grand jury was unfair and grouped all the suspects together. The attorneys claimed there were varying levels of participation between the suspects, and no eye witnesses reported seeing Hines hit Lord. The judge ultimately denied the motion, saying Hines was given a fair grand jury presentation.
