Charity has skated once before, but her mom says this time was more exciting.

"This will be her first time not on one of those equipment things since she has all of her medical equipment," Janet Manegold said. "She is on IV Nutrition, so she is hooked up to a central line that is running IV Nutrition 24 hours a day."

According to Manegold, that IV nutrition is in the backpack her daughter wears, but today, any health-related concerns were set aside, as Charity skated with rookies from the Arizona Coyotes hockey team.

"We have live-threatening medical conditions about 45 percent if cancer, others have rare chromosome disorders, cystic fibrosis, mitochondrial disease," Kimberly Tirchel said.

Six kids from Hope Kids Arizona hit the ice today.

"The Coyotes really like to tell us that hockey is for everyone and nothing displays that more perfectly than the way that they give back to our kids who generally wouldn't be able to do something like this," Tirchel said.

Giving back is what the players say it's all about... that and the smiles on the faces of their newest fans, like Charity.

"It's awesome, it's awesome to see her to see her do something like this and not have to worry about her normal things," Manegold said.
