MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - The NFL has officially set the day for Super Bowl LII at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis: Feb. 4, 2018.
"Super Bowl LII is our opportunity to showcase Minnesota to the world; all that life in the Bold North has to offer, and our incredible hospitality," said Maureen Hooley Bausch, CEO of the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee.
Minneapolis secured its bid to host the 2018 Super Bowl on May 20, 2014. Construction is slated to be complete this July.
On Monday, crews began to install 132,000 square feet of synthetic turf, which is just over 3 acres. It's composed of more than 135 million blades and 5,000 miles of fiber. Officials say it will take about three to four weeks to fully install.
