Woman killed in head-on crash in west Phoenix
PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Police say a woman was killed when her vehicle was hit head-on by a suspected drunk driver in west Phoenix.
Phoenix police say the crash happened near 37th Avenue and Thomas Road when a suspected drunk driver veered into oncoming traffic and hit white Nissan Sentra.
The 24-year-old suspected drunk driver was taken to a hospital where he remains in critical condition. His 37-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries.
A 52-year-old woman who was driving the Nissan Sentra was pronounced dead at the scene. A 24-year-old passenger in the vehicle was taken to a hospital where she remains in critical condition.
Investigators believe both speed and impairment are factors in the crash.
The roadway has reopened.
