Woman dies after crashing into light pole

PHOENIX - Police are investigating what caused a driver to crash into a light pole in a deadly crash in west Phoenix.

The fatal accident happened Saturday afternoon near 91st Avenue and McDowell. Police say the driver slammed into a traffic light, and was taken to a hospital where she later died.

The name of the woman who was driving has not yet been released. It's not clear if impairment may have been a factor in the accident.
