Woman dead following crash in Phoenix

Police say the crash happened near 55th Avenue and Campbell Monday morning.

A woman is dead, according to Phoenix Police officials, following a crash that happened during the overnight hours on June 10.

Per a statement, officers were called at around 1:45 a.m. to the area of 55th Avenue and Campbell for a crash call.

"When officers arrived, they located an adult female, identified as 50-year-old Ramona Barajas-Raya, with serious injuries," read a portion of the statement.

Barajas-Raya was taken to the hospital, according to police, where she later died.

"Preliminary information suggests the vehicle driven by Barajas-Raya was northbound on 55th Avenue when, for unknown reasons, it left the roadway striking a lawfully parked unoccupied vehicle," police said.

An investigation remains ongoing.
