Two arrested in vehicle carrying 347 lbs. of marijuana
Two suspects are in custody after the discovery of more than three hundred pounds of marijuana in their vehicle.
Pinal County Deputies arrested 43-year-old Mario Perez-Paz and 21-year-old Juan Aguilar-Zavala on Wednesday following a pursuit. Deputies were monitoring traffic along I-8 and tried to pull over a 2006 Trailblazer, following the vehicle onto I-10. The vehicle reached speeds of up to 100 miles an hour.
Deputies say the two suspects began throwing bales of marijuana out of the vehicle and into the freeway. With help from the Arizona Department of Public Safety agents, law enforcement laid down spike strips that flattened the tires of the vehicle. Both suspects bailed out of the car and took off on foot, but they were finally taken into custody. Deputies seized more than 347 pounds of marijuana, and both suspects are now facing a slew of charges, including possession and transportation of marijuana for sale and unlawful flight.
