Truck crashes into Mesa office, 2 employees injured

Two employees at a Mesa CPA office were taken to the hospital after a truck plowed into a building Thursday morning.

"We heard kind of a crash," said Kyle Couch, who was working in the area at the time of the crash. "Sounded like something had fallen down outside."

According to Mesa Police officials, the crash happened at around 9:30 a.m. near Power Road and Baseline. The crash resulted in two people inside the building being taken to the hospital.

"Immediately ran over there, and some of the folks that were there were hurt," said Couch. "Helped moved some desks off of them, made sure everyone was OK, brought them some water."

"Fortunately there were other people in the building that came rushed over, helped her out, pulled her out from under her desk," said Michael Law with Law and Reed Tax and Accounting Services. "Pretty serious situation, and we're grateful to them to help us out."

According to police, one of the employees injured has a possible broken leg, while the other suffered minor injuries. Meanwhile, the truck driver involved in the crash is being evaluated by police for possible impairment. Authorities

Witnesses say they are grateful everyone is expected to be okay, and Couch says he's glad he was there at the right time.

"If I see somewhere I can jump in and help, I like to do that as much as possible," said Couch.

Partners at the tax and accounting business say they are still assessing the building, and it will be a while before they can figure out the full extent of the damage.
