PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Come on in, everyone, we've been expecting you into this 54-square foot tiny home.
"My first tiny house was 250 square feet, 32 foot long," Richard Ward said. "This one is only 10 foot long. The first tiny house was way too big, so I decided to downsize and build this one.
This micro house by Terra Form Homes was built from an old boat trailer and creator Richard Ward has been living in it since October.
"I've got a full-sized bed, little bath area sort of thing, just a gravity fed sink, composting toilet, and then out the back there is the kitchen and an outdoor shower," he said.
From the micro to the mac daddy of tiny homes, this one boasts a couple hundred square feet and a loft.
"Tiny homes are a huge trend," Joelle Peruch said. "I think it'll be around awhile. People love these things."
There are plenty of ways to live large in a small home, like this shipping container.
"The nice thing about this is everybody wants an extra room on their house, man cave, shed, somewhere for the kids," one person said. "The average national cost to build a room on your house is $40,000. This is $10 to $16,000. You pick the doors, windows, fully furnished on inside, 160 square feet."
The Maricopa County Home and Garden Show takes place Friday through Sunday.
