'The Devil Wears Prada' sequel reportedly in the works at Disney

LOS ANGELES - "The Devil Wears Prada," the hit 2006 dramedy starring Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt, is reportedly getting a sequel.
The follow-up is in early development at Disney with film’s original screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna tapped to return, according to reports from Deadline, Variety and Puck.
"The Devil Wears Prada" is based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel of the same name. Streep starred as Miranda Priestly, a demanding editor-in-chief of a high fashion magazine, with Hathaway and Blunt who played her assistants Andrea Sachs and Emily Charlton. Other stars included Stanley Tucci and Adrian Grenier.
After its June 2006 debut, "The Devil Wears Prada" grossed $326 million at the box office worldwide and earned multiple awards – including an Oscar nomination for Streep.
The movie has remained top of mind for fans, particularly after the trio reunited at the SAG Awards in February. Hathaway and Blunt also discussed the film for Variety’s "Actors on Actors" series.

Who from the original cast will return remains unclear, and the studio declined to comment on the reports, Deadline and Variety reported.
Citing sources, Deadline reported that the original film’s director, David Frankel, is in talks to return, and original producer Wendy Finerman is back as well.
Puck reported that the sequel plot could follow Priestly, who still runs the magazine, as she navigates the decline of traditional magazine publishing. Meanwhile, Blunt’s character is now an executive at a luxury group with advertising dollars that Priestly needs, according to the outlet.
