Fatal crash near hospital under investigation

The Brief

    • A woman died after being hit by a car near 91st Ave. and Thomas Rd.
    • Traffic in the area will be restricted during the investigation.

PHOENIX - A woman died after being hit by a vehicle near the west Phoenix intersection of 91st Avenue and Thomas Road around 6:30 a.m. on December 26.

Police say officers found the victim lying in the middle of the road. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they determined that she died from her injuries.

Officers say the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, which is near Banner Estrella Medical Center.

The cause of the collision has not been determined. 

"The intersection will be restricted as detectives are enroute to investigate," stated Sgt. Phil Krynsky of the Phoenix Police Department.

No names have been released in this case.
