Teen indicted for murder at Mesa trailer park

A teenager has been charged in connection to a shooting at a trailer park in Mesa that left a man dead.

The Maricopa County Attorney's Office says 16-year-old Edgar Quintero has been indicted as an adult in connection to the crime, which happened on Dec. 18 near McKellips Road and Center Street.

Mesa Police said witnesses reported seeing a male shooting at a person who was in the driver's seat of a green truck. After the shooting, the armed suspect fled the scene but returned moments later and took the truck, with the victim still inside.

The truck was found abandoned near Val Vista Drive and McDowell Road. The victim was found shot to death in the passenger's seat. The victim was not identified.

After shooting the victim multiple times, police say the teenage suspect fled the scene with the victim's body.

Quintero was taken into custody over a week later at an apartment complex.

"During an interview with detectives, he admitted to being present at the scene and holding the weapon that killed the victim," police said.

Quintero is accused of first-degree murder, armed robbery, theft of means of transportation, abandonment or concealment of a dead body and tampering with evidence.

He is being held on a $1 million cash bond.
