PHOENIX - Phoenix Police officials are investigating, after a teen was shot and killed on May 12.
The incident, according to police, happened just before 9 p.m. at a park north of 16th Street and Union Hills Drive. When officers got to the scene, they found 17-year-old Henry Almeida-Garcia with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.
"Detectives with the Phoenix Police Homicide Unit took over the investigation and learned that the victim was with friends and were confronted by an unknown suspect," Sgt. Melissa Soliz said in a statement. "The suspect left the area after shooting the victim. The suspect remains outstanding."

Neighbors say they heard some teens causing noise in the park late at night before, but nothing like this.
"We went out to dinner and on the way home I saw that there were police and sirens and stuff going on," said Jason.
Crime scene tape was secured on light poles and cop cars surrounded the neighborhood park across the street from neighbor Jason's home.
"To have gunshots in this neighborhood, it’s kind of weird, but for the last month like every weekend there’s been a bunch of teens out there just having a fun time at the park," said Jason. "Every time they leave, they just take off and start shooting. I don’t know if they are shooting at the mountain range up in the air or not. Hopefully, they get to the bottom and figure out what’s going on."
The news is upsetting to Jacob who comes to the park with his toddler daughter.
"It just doesn't make sense," he said. "Hearing that, it's making my heart race right now, to be honest."
Jacob says he's sad to hear about the loss of young life so close to his neighborhood.
"We have to come together as a community and support each other, that's really all you can do," he said.
