PHOENIX - A suspect is in custody following an officer-involved shooting in Phoenix on Saturday afternoon.
The Phoenix Police Department says a shooting broke out near 12th Street and Osborn Road around 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 9.
"No officers are injured. One suspect is in custody. No one is outstanding," the department said.
According to a police report, a woman was seen waving a knife at an apartment complex in the area.
When officers arrived, they found the 32-year-old woman and ordered her to drop her knife.
Multiple shots were fired at the suspect when she refused to comply.
Officers also shot a taser toward the suspect.
"I heard more screaming and more cruisers coming in," a witness named Luciano Alonzo said. "They just blanketed the whole area. Then I heard more screaming and then I heard gunshots. I don’t know if it was a gun or a stun gun. I just know it was loud."
Police said that life-saving measures were taken to care for the suspect, who was taken to a nearby hospital.
A knife was located on scene and taken in as evidence.
