SANTA CLARITA, CA (CNS/FOX 11) - A man suspected of speeding led California Highway Patrol officers on chase from Kern County into the Newhall area on Thursday, hitting speeds topping 100 mph before he was arrested.

It was not immediately clear when and exactly where the chase began, but the suspect, a man in his early 20's, raced south on Interstate 5 as light rain began to fall in the Castaic area.
With CHP officers chasing him, but not in close pursuit, the suspect exited at state Route 126, headed west, then turned east and got on northbound Interstate 5.
He exited at Rye Canyon Road, pulled over a short distance away on The Old Road and got out of the car, but was quickly apprehended about 5:20 p.m.
The suspect's name was not immediately released.
