Scottsdale PD releases body camera of DUI arrest
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Scottsdale Police have released new body camera footage showing the arrest of a suspected drunk driver. The man is accused of punching and kicking officers as they tried to take him into custody.
It all happened last week in the early morning hours when officers pulled over a driver they say was driving on four flat tires. Moments after they stopped the driver the video shows him acting combative and fighting with officers as they tried to gain control.
The video shows officers ordering the suspect to stop, officers pointing their tasers at him, and them deploying the device to take the suspect into custody.
Authorities say 24-year-old Tristan Anagal disobeys commands and fights with officers who had to use tasers and a baton to gain control. Despite all that he continued to fight, kicking, hitting, and even punching one officer in the face.
Once they got Anagal into handcuffs police, say he spit on them and threatened to kill them. A helmet was placed on the suspect before they placed him into the back of a police car.
Anagal is now facing charges including aggravated assault on a police officer, impaired driving, and resisting arrest. He also has an outstanding warrant for a DUI out of Mesa.
The officer injured in the scuffle was treated for minor injuries before returning to work.
