MESA, Ariz. (KSAZ) - As summer rolls around and temperatures increase, there's no better place to be than tubing down the Salt River.
Salt River Tubing kicked off its annual season of tubing today, marking 37 years as Arizona's floating picnic.
From costume parties to celebrating special events, tubing is accessible seven days a week. It's open from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., but the very latest for tube rentals is 1:00 p.m.
It costs $17 with additional taxes and fees to rent a tube, but that also includes a shuttle bus service and free parking.
Salt River Tubing says children must be at least eight years old and older and four feet tall to tube.
The Lower Salt River is known for attracting people to party, so it's always recommended to appoint a designated driver before tubing starts. Life vests are always encouraged as well, because sometimes there are white water rapids in certain areas.
