Revolver Records, a Downtown Phoenix staple, set to close for good
PHOENIX (FOX 10) -- It's the end of an era for a Downtown Phoenix staple.
After 11 years of business, Revolver Records, located on Roosevelt Row, announced plans to close for good.
"It really makes me sad, because there is no other record store like that, I think, in Phoenix, as far as I know," said one female customer.
"I'm actually kinda devastated they're closing this location," said Domenic Viviano. "Right here in the heart of Downtown. This has been like a staple."
The announcement was made official on record store's Facebook page. The store's owner, T.J. Jordan, wrote it was time to move on after 11 years in business. He goes on to mention they've enjoyed taking part in their customers' musical lives.
Viviano says he been going to revolver records for a number of years now, and enjoys how musically passionate the employees are.
"This is the only place I know that you're going to get that kind of knowledge, If that makes sense," said Viviano. "You go to other stores, and I feel, personally, that they are just an employee. They're not a music record specialist."
FOX 10's Stephanie Olmo spoke to Jordan on the phone, who says after 2014, Downtown Phoenix has been changing, and the arts section is not like what it used to be. It's a sentiment Viviano agrees with.
"The arts district here, I'm an artist myself and I feel like we are slowly be pushed out by Corporate America," said Viviano. "It's like small business versus big business and/or luxury condos, you know where is there more money in it, and it's sad."
Viviano says although Downtown Phoenix is growing with more people and new businesses, nothing beats smaller businesses like Revolver Records.
"These are the kind of people that I do business with versus the chains, you know, because you don't really get the information, the experience, and or the quality that comes with it," said Viviano.
