Refund checks to be mailed to Theranos customers in Arizona
PHOENIX (AP) - More than 76,000 checks with average refunds of $60.92 will be mailed Friday to Arizonans who used Theranos Inc.'s blood testing services.
The mailings announced Thursday by state Attorney General Mark Brnovich implements a $4.6 million settlement announced last April as part of a consent judgment with Palo Alto, California-Based Theranos.
The announcement says consumers will receive a full refund, including one customer who paid more than $3,400 for testing.
Brnovich's office alleged that Theranos' advertisements misrepresented the method, accuracy, and reliability of its blood testing and that the company was out of compliance with federal regulations.
