Police accuse Kingman man of killing roommate with hatchet
KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - A Kingman man has been arrested on suspicion of killing a roommate with a hatchet and temporarily stashing his body in the garage.
Joshua Matthew McCoy has his first court appearance scheduled Friday in Kingman Justice Court. He didn't have an attorney listed.
Kingman police arrested him Thursday on suspicion of second-degree murder. Deputy Chief Rusty Cooper says McCoy's girlfriend called authorities to report a dead man's body in the garage of their home.
Police obtained a search warrant and found the body wrapped in painter's plastic. Cooper says the 28-year-old McCoy told authorities he had started digging a hole to bury the man's body under the porch in his backyard.
Cooper says authorities are trying to get a hold of the 61-year-old man's family before releasing his identity.
