Plane crashes at Mesa's Falcon Field Airport

A plane crashed at Mesa's Falcon Field Airport on Tuesday afternoon. Flames and smoke billowed from the crash at the airport near Greenfield and McKellips roads around 4:40 p.m. on Nov. 5.

Five people were killed in a plane crash shortly after taking off from Mesa's Falcon Field Airport on Tuesday afternoon.

Flames and smoke billowed from the crash at the airport near Greenfield and McKellips roads around 4:40 p.m. on Nov. 5. Authorities say the plane crashed into a car.

The five people on board who died were not identified.

"Our community suffered a tragic loss this afternoon. We had a plane that took off from Falon Field Airport in Mesa and upon take off, it crashed into a single vehicle on Greenfield Road," said Mesa Fire and Medical Department's spokesperson Marrisa Ramirez-Ramos.

The NTSB, FAA, Mesa Fire and Medical and the Mesa Police Department are investigating.
