Phoenix Police participate in Tip A Cop event

Folks were stopped by the cops, but there were no tickets handed out.

Phoenix Police officers were out chatting it up at the Starbucks drive-thru. Even the SWAT team was out, all of it for a good cause, Arizona Special Olympics.

"We work with over 16,000 athletes here in the state, and the best thing is our athletes don't pay anything to compete and train, so events like these continue to support our athletes throughout the year," said Josh Montgomery.

All the donations for the Tip A Cop event benefited the Special Olympics organization. Dozens of officers and police department civilian employees gave some of their time this morning.

"It's a huge family, and we all have one big goal to ensure that those who are intellectually disabled have a chance to get out there and show just how special they really are," said Officer James Holmes.

It was a chance to be part of something great, chat it up with a cop, and give a little that goes a long way.
