Phoenix Fire: 34-year-old man killed after driving taxi into oncoming traffic in west Phoenix
PHOENIX - UPDATE: Phoenix Police have identified the taxi cab driver as 34-year-old Alex Kennedy.
Phoenix Fire crews say a 34-year-old driver of a taxi cab died in a crash in west Phoenix on Saturday morning.
The crash happened at about 5am in the area of 23rd Avenue and Southern. Phoenix Fire crews say a 34-year-old driver of a taxi cab was rushed to the hospital in extremely critical condition, and he later was pronounced dead.
Police say the crash involved the taxi, an SUV and a small compact vehicle. They say the taxi drove toward the center line and crossed into oncoming traffic. The taxi collided with an SUV and the compact car.
Two other adults were taken to the hospital with less serious injuries. A total of six people were evaluated on scene. Three other suffered minor injuries and did not require treatment.
