PD: Fight in parking lot leaves man dead
PHOENIX, Ariz. (FOX 10) - Phoenix Police are investigating a deadly shooting after a a fight broke out in a parking lot.
The shooting happened in the Ranch Market parking lot near 59th Avenue and Thomas Road.
Police say the suspect, a 32-year-old man, and his female friend were in the parking lot when they were confronted by the victim, a 33-year-old man, who turned out to be in a relationship with the woman.
The victim began yelling at the two, grabbed the steering wheel and attempted to get into their vehicle and assault them, according to police.
Police say the suspect warned the man he had a gun and would shoot if he didn't back off. The victim refused and hung onto the steering wheel as the suspect tried to backup, causing the suspect's vehicle to collide with the victim's vehicle. At some point the suspect's gun fired, hitting the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers said the suspect called police and waited on the scene. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
