When Lexie Mullins reviewed her home security video, the Chavies, Kentucky, resident saw something that made her look twice.

Video outside of Mullins’ home shows a wallaby – an Australian native marsupial that resembles a small kangaroo – running around outside.

"I never thought I would see the day," Mullins wrote in a Facebook post shortly after seeing the animal the first time on Nov. 9.

Three days later, the wallaby was back.

It turns out, the wallaby is a pet of a Kentucky resident and is legal to own, according to Fox 56. It was on the run for a few days before East Kentucky Thermal Drone Recovery helped to capture it and reunite it with its owners.

"We’ve tracked numerous things from deer, elk, bear, dogs, horses, humans, you name it we’ve tracked it," the company said on Facebook. "But tonight put the icing on the cake."

The marsupial belongs to the same family as kangaroos and quokkas and is native to Australia.
