MESA, Ariz. - Police say a suspect has been arrested in connection to a shooting at a Mesa apartment complex that left a man and wife dead.
Officials say the shooting happened just before 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 1 near Power Road and Main Street.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found 48-year-old Ronnie Lazalde and his wife, 41-year-old Natishia Lazalde, underneath a stairwell. Both victims had been shot.
Ronnie was pronounced dead at the scene. Natishia was taken to a hospital where she later died.
Investigators say they learned that the victims were inside their apartment when Natishia's son came over to visit. Johnel Trinidad, 44, was also inside the apartment and got into an argument with the son. After Trinidad, Natishia, and her son went outside, Ronnie Lazalde followed and joined in the argument.
"As the argument continued, Johnel pulled a weapon and fired at Ronnie and the son," police said. "The son then pulled his own gun and fired at Johnel while he was running away."
Ronnie and Natishia Lazalde suffered what turned out to be fatal gunshot wounds.
It's unknown if Natishia's son was injured in the shooting.
Trinidad was shot in the leg and was hospitalized. After being released, he was arrested and booked into jail. Trinidad is accused of two counts of manslaughter.
