Maricopa County is getting bigger, according to Census figures
PHOENIX (KSAZ) - According to the latest figures from the United States Census Bureau, Maricopa County is becoming home to a lot more people.
In 2017, Maricopa County grew by 73,650 people, the largest population growth of any county in the United States. Coming in 2nd place is Nevada's Clark County. The southern Nevada county, which includes Las Vegas, grew by 47,355 people.
Maricopa County's growth is also helping neighboring counties. Pinal County, for example, grew by 3.64% in 2017.
Maricopa County's growth shouldn't come as much of a surprise. Not only is it the fourth largest county in the country, with more than 4,397,933 residents, it also encompasses cities like Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa, and Buckeye, which was recently listed as one of the fastest growing cities in the United States.
All of this adds to Arizona's growing population of more than 7 million people.
