Man found next to railroad tracks with partially severed leg

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Flagstaff police say a man has lost part of a leg while trespassing on railroad tracks that pass through the northern Arizona city.

Police say officers found the severely injured 24-year-old man early Friday morning lying next to Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks on the city's east side.

His left leg was partially severed just below the knee.

Police Sgt. Margaret Bentzen says it's apparent that the man somehow came in contact with a train while trespassing on the tracks but that exact circumstances of what happened aren't yet known.
